Here is a recap as told by Thorindor, the group's Paladin.
This weeks adventure continued were we left off. After valiantly defeating the demon and his malformed orc minions on the boat we proceeded to make way and sail to our originating port. While searching the boat for any remaining orcs I found 2 poor souls. Covered in their own filth and apparently beggars made slaves. The 2 were freed, cleaned and given food.
In route to the port city in our newly acquired ship an enemy of the light was seen on the horizon. We dropped sail and waited for them to approach as we were in their own ships. Once they came along side we let loose with a volley of thunderous canon blasts. During the ensuing battle our own ship caught fire from the breath of the mighty demon captain of the smaller ship and we were forced to abandoned ours and take his.
During the examination of the smaller ship a treasure horde was found. Our two new beggar friends seemed overly concerned with coin as one of them triggered a trap while trying to make off with it and His own friend ignored poisoned companions plight to take stock of the loot to pocket what he could get away with. It is a shame these poor, wrecked souls only concern themselves with gold.
The party quickly made it's way to the resistance headquarters and found the location of the next beacon... In another realm behind a portal that opens once a week for 24 hours. Our newly found beggar recklessly charged into the portal I can only assuming expecting to find mountains of gold. They seem to have a serious lack of concern for the completion of our tasks. If we die, the beacons will remain.
As we approached the location of the beacon a being of light, a hand of the gods, sent to guide us spoke to me. He imparted details of the complex and history of the original occupants to me. Darkness resides in the complex. That which we cannot defeat on our own and must be avoided.
It was wonderful to feel the touch of the gods again. This land is not like our own, the gods still can speak to their followers.
During our exploration of the complex we found several poor souls lost completely and were forced to send them to the next life. We did manage to find a elf, barely alive and driven to madness that I will do my best to bring back to the church. His soul is not lost, only his mind is confused in the haze of madness.
We discovered the darkness we could not defeat. Using the knowledge passed onto us by the hand of the gods we escaped with our lives intact. We must find and close the beacon.
