Deep Thoughts by Konrad Spindleshanks Vol. 1, entry 1
After being freed from the war vessel's hold I am stricken by the party's nonchalance attitude toward my addition to their fold. I know that they freed me from my bonds but given enough time my superior intellect would have determined a course towards freedom. after securing freedom from my bonds the hasty group of adventurers seemed unnaturally pre-occupied with a curious deck of cards. Though intriguing (afterall i did receive a magnificent horn) the deck appears to be little more than a distraction for the feeble minded. Thus i ascertained that, once again, I am yoked with a group of dullards. Although the thief shows promise, I will again take on the role of reason. This group's quest does align with mine so I will laud them with my presence for the time being...
Shortly after returning above decks we spotted a ship on the horizon. Of course I was the only one with the where-with-all to climb the mast to the crow's nest to identify the approaching vessel; skinny legs and all. I quickly surmised it to be a an adversary and quickly called the group into action. With my quick, and clever planning and guidance our group was victorious over a foul, demonic creature and its minions. Honestly, their pet chicken seems to have more tactical skill than anyone else.
Upon searching the hold with the aforementioned thief, we discovered a treasure room. True to his inexperience and inferior mental aptitude, he triggered a dart trap. I took my due allowance from one of the chests as defacto leader of the party then called for assistance from the group. After all, a mere poisoning is beneath me. I was surprised to note that instead of curing their comrade, Humey decided to suck out the poison from the thief's neck. He rather relished this task in my estimation.
We then traveled to port where my pursuit to thwart Asmodeus continued by tossing his newly coined money overboard and sabotaging his vessel. Shortly afterwards, Ishtar blessed me with a companion worthy of my status; Bobo a metallic screech owl. The resistance then set us to a portal for our next assignment. Our cowardly paladin seemed unduly afraid of entering the portal. So, as usual, I led the way.
The motley band of adventurers were utterly perplexed upon passage through the portal. Once again, I had to guide the way. Looking through Bobo's eyes, I charted a path to a small village and a large house that appeared to the source of another beacon. Like a child distracted by shiny objects, the slow witted adventurers made haste to the village. I, of course, made way to the house. After a fruitless search, the party realized the wisdom in my decision and followed me where upon the gods blessed my arrival with a messenger. He annointed my mental prowess and determination toward the defeat of Asmodeus and guided my passage into the mansion. I felt compelled to invite my new-found companions inside.
Once inside, my vacuous retinue saw strange things and occurances that I did not. i imagine the resident of this mansion placed illusions to dissuade the feeble minded from venturing much farther. However, guided by exceptional intellect and courage our band of adventures continued on towards a secret passage that I discovered of course. It turned out to be the passageway to a series of holding cells. After freeing a curious monstrocity from his bindings, i became weary of this foul smelling chamber and decided to wait for the rest of my assemblage to realize this area had little value. I acknowledge that leaving a group of simpletons to their own devises was a mistake. Shortly after my departure they pulled a lever, thus freeing the nefarious inhabitants of the cells. We all scrambled to the entrance of the passage when our weak-willed paladin's slow acting brain caught up with his actions.he remembered leaving a benevolent prisoner downstairs. I remarked that the elf should realize his fate since he obviously was too stupid to be caught in the first place. However, the paladin did not see it my way and charge back through the combatants to rescue said elf. I should note that the elf does not seem right in the head and actually attempted to kill our paladin; an attempt that was thwarted by my acute observations of the situation.
Although, this group of misfit adventurers are unequal to my capabilities i have grown rather fond of them in the same sort of way one might be amused by a court jester or some other trivial persona. I look forward to guiding them through this mansion and dismantling the beacon in the name of the resistance.
